With the new fuel mixture with ethanol- moisture and more water is intrained in todays fuel more than ever and can make deposits and jelling in various parts of that system.Ĭlean out the old- Put in the new - and tweak it as necessary.I've come down with pneumonia and haven't been able to work on the engine.I have started feeling better in the past couple days,but not well enough to get out.Before I put away the engine,it need a spark plug,fresh fuel,and a carb cleaning.I plan to change the gear case oil and impeller for a piece of mind.Sears online parts department still have parts listed for the old Gamefisher outboards.Have to look up the parts using the engine model number.They still sell the parts to rebuild the power head.The prices on parts to rebuild the power head make it barely worth it for the home mechanic.If the work has to be done at a shop,find a working engine and keep the bad one for spare parts.The power head being Tecumseh is good.If someone has connections with an old small engine or lawn mower shop,the parts are interchangeable with some of the old mowers.From my understanding the engine block and crankshaft are the only parts specific to the outboards.I can't confirm this 100% but my cousin has an old green push mower, with a Tecumeh engine,and it isn't much different than my outboard.The carbs look the same as does the pull start cover.I hope this info will help someone and I will keep posted what happens when I am able to work on the engine more. I always before leaving the water on O/B's - disconect the fuel supply and run till empty- then atttemt several restarts. Take the carburator off and clean all the varnish from the bowl and jets. If it idles roufgh in gear or at mid to wide open throttle. It will stall but not to the point of kill. While running spray some carb cleaner down it. Be advised that many Sears, Clinton and Eska parts are interchangeable, including Gamefisher & Ted Williams. The pictures shown are pictures of the actual part you are purchasing and all parts shown are included. A preaty simple fix on a motor that size. All the vintage Sears and Eska outboard parts listed on these pages have been carefully removed from select outboard motors. If not- the impeller for cooling water may not be working. When started and running there should be a "tattle tail" of water exiting the engine in view to show of cooling. I had one like that and I got it running by swapping that coil with an OMC coil not the Universal Magneto coil.but an OMC coil from a later model engine that had two coils mounted on the powerhead much like your Ted Williams does. In 1980 Eska, by then a subsidiary of Talley Industries of Mesa, Arizona, purchased the Clinton outboard motor product line from the Clinton Engines Corp. If it has the coil on the side like that I don’t think it has points.

If they are not rounded off at all- I would keep them.
Pull the plugs and take a look at them- tell us what they look like or take pic's of them.
